Background
This is the story of our house. It’s being built on what was an old orchard, sandwiched between historic farm buildings on a slope overlooking the centre of a small village in the Canton of Zürich.
The house is one of five, prefabricated wooden houses being built. The developer is the architect. It was sold as a shell and whilst the outside hints at its modernity, we’re creating a strictly minimalist set of spaces on the inside, focusing on light, shadow and proportions.
The blog serves to record the build of the house, and to capture some of the thoughts that we had during the process.
Dear ‘The Old Orchard’
I wanted to write and thank you for such a great piece on us. We blushed upon reading it.
I loved it so much that I have posted it onto our website (if you don’t mind) http://vitsoe.com/news_press_2008.php?id=918
I’m really pleased to hear that our service extends around the world as easily as it does if you live across the road from us – it has always been our aim.
Many thanks once again
Daniel Nelson at Vitsoe.
